SEASPRAY ADVENTURES

Our new venture “SeaSpray Adventure Sailing” allows you all to enjoy being afloat on our yachts Midnight Mirage, Deja Vue and Havana. Come and explore the Firth of Clyde this Spring and in the Autumn, and the Western Isles this Summer.

We welcome you all, whether you are by yourself or as a couple … whether you have any sailing experience or have none,

whether you just want to sail, or just want to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife and to explore the islands of the beautiful West Coast of Scotland.

We have expanded our fleet to yachts ranging in size from 31ft to 46ft and we are devoting a number of weeks to sailing three of our yachts specifically for your  enjoyment with an appointed Skipper to take you to all those lovely places you would like to explore.

Our Adventures will start at Largs and at Oban and take you to explore some of the lovely ports, fishing villages,

bays & islands you have always wanted to explore.

Tarbert Loch Fyne.

The Largs Adventure.       The Arran Cruise.

When you arrive, our skipper will welcome you on board and expand on the activities we expect to be happening. Once we’re on our way you will get a chance to participate in the running of the vessel, handling ropes, steering, and getting to know how a sailboat works. We have planned an Itinerary that we hope you will enjoy. Sailing from Largs, we call our Cruise “The Arran Cruise”. It’s a little over 18nm from Largs to Brodick Bay on Arran. We normally sail at a speed of between 4kts & 6kts which gives you a chance to settle into the “seafaring” routine. Arran is a dramatic island with peaks rising to 2850 ft (873m)

Those who are keen to get the view from the top can take the path to the summit up through the splendid grounds of Brodick Castle. The Castle & Grounds are open to visitors and well worth visiting for those who don’t wish to climb Goat Fell. Our next port of call is Lochranza on the northwestern side of the Island. There is a distillery quite close to the Anchorage that is interesting to visit. We will then sail to the lovely little port of Tarbert where we will stay on the visitor’s pontoons and enjoy a night out in the village. Finally, we will head back to Largs through the Kyles of Bute stopping off at one of the favourite bays en route. Expect to see lots of wildlife on the way. Gannets, Guillemots, Porpoises  & even a chance to see basking sharks or whales. Whales are not often spotted but have appeared in the Kyle of Bute several times in the last few years ! We think you will thoroughly enjoy you cruise and return home with happy memories.

On their way !

ADVENTURE SAILING.
“Adventure Sailing” is The Experience for you, of being on a well-appointed Yacht Sailing in the Firth of Clyde & The Western Isles of Scotland.    It’s all quite magical, with absolutely splendid, rugged scenery and lots to see and do.

Adventure sailing is all about making new friends, finding out all about sailing boats and how to sail them.
You will get plenty of opportunities to try out your skills under the Skipper’s watchful eye !

All of our Adventures are open to all, regardless of whether you have any sailing experience or not. We do take considerable note
of how you are all taking to life at sea and will always make certain the weather conditions are perfectly OK for all of you.
Our well qualified Commercial Skippers are well experienced and know how to look after you.

Around the Mull Whisky Trail

We invite you to join us at Largs Yacht Haven for this epic voyage taking in a number of Whisky Distilleries on the West Coast where you will get a chance to visit the distilleries and taste the blended whiskies.

We will meet at midday on Saturday, and you will be allocated your berth and briefed on the safety equipment on board your yacht which will be your home for the next seven days.

When you're settled in we will set sail towards the beautiful Isle of Arran where we will  spend the night. We will either eat on board or go ashore to the Pierhead Tavern for a tasty supper, where we can also expect live music.

On Sunday we will sail south down the coast of Arran, past Pladda and West to Campbeltown. The views of the mountains of Arran are quite stunning.

There is a lovely Distillery at Campbeltown that was built be in 1828. Springburn Distillery still use traditional methods of producing the whisky and we will visit on Monday and take a guided tour. For those who wish, you may like to taste the malt whiskies on offer.

On Tuesday we will head South from Campbeltown and sail round the Mull of Kintyre. Our destination is Port Ellen on Islay. It's a lovely small town which I am sure you will enjoy. We have an excellent choice of Distilleries to visit. On Wednesday you can either visit the Distilleries at Laphroaig, Lagavulin or Ardbeg which are close to Port Ellen or alternatively, you can catch the bus across the island and visit the two rather more remote distilleries

Bowmore & Caol Ila at Port Askaig.

On Thursday we will sail up to Jura and take a mooring in Craighouse Bay.

This will be the last of our distillery visits before we depart for Oban.

On Friday. It's a lovely sail up to Oban with some beautiful wild scenery. There is a very good chance of seeing porpoises and the sight of Gannets crash diving for fish is spectacular.

Your last night will be spent at the Town Pontoons Oban It is just a short walk to lots of great restaurants and pubs.
